how often you should actually wash your towels

We simply couldn’t live without towels. Could you imagine having to air dry every time we stepped out the shower? How inconvenient that would be! Luckily, we do have towels, but not all of them are doing us a world of good…

Although we use towels on freshly washed skin, they still collect moisture, dead skin cells and natural body oils. Add the warmth and humidity of a steamy bathroom, and a damp towel can quickly become a welcoming place for bacteria, yeast and mildew.

So, how can you make sure every post-shower wrap feels beautifully fresh, clean and comforting? Here’s how often to wash your towels while keeping them soft, fluffy and wonderfully absorbent.

under normal circumstances…

As a general guide, a bath towel can be used three to four times before washing, provided it is used by one person and hung somewhere airy enough to dry completely between uses.

Hand towels are used more frequently—and often by several people—so it is a good idea to replace them every two or three days, or sooner if they become damp, marked or lose their freshly washed scent.

the ultimate solution: invest in lasting quality

So now you know how often you should actually wash your towels, but regular washing should not mean regularly replacing your towels. Beautifully made towels can withstand the rhythm of everyday life while remaining soft, absorbent and inviting.

Ours are woven from exceptionally fine, long-staple organic cotton, chosen for its natural strength, softness and durability. The longer fibres create smoother, stronger yarns with fewer exposed ends, helping the towels resist pilling and retain their beautifully plush feel wash after wash.

Treat them with a little care, and they will return the favour—bringing cloud-like softness, generous absorbency and a comforting touch of luxury to every bath and shower.
