how to have a considered christmas

There really are so many small, easy, and inexpensive ways to have a more considered Christmas. Here’s some of our favourites, they might just become yours, too!

to reduce waste, why not…

Try renting a tree or finding one which can be replanted year after year instead of having a disposable one. This way your tree will grow as you do, almost becoming part of the family and contributing to years of memory making.

It’s also really easy to switch your wrapping for more sustainable options too. Not only is brown paper recyclable (and most is FSC Certified), it’s super easy to personalise. Draw your own design, or tuck in some scent sensations… We love adding a cinnamon stick or dried greenery to ours. For all the creatives out there, we also love Furoshki wrapping. A Japanese art form, Furoshki wrapping involves tying scraps of fabric together to create a beautifully wrapped gift. Trust us, it’s not as difficult as it looks.

When the big day arrives and food is flowing, try to wrap up any leftovers and save them for the days ahead. Besides, who doesn’t love having a second Christmas Dinner on Boxing Day? Or if you’re wanting something a little different, make some delicious pizza sourdough balls a few days ahead and top them with the remaining cheese board, turkey and all the trimmings. You could even blitz your roasted veg in a food processor with herbs too to create the perfect pizza base, or use leftover bread sauce instead. And don’t forget to warm up the gravy for dipping!

give a little love

We all love spoiling those nearest and dearest to us at this time of year, showering them with thought-filled presents over the festive period. Handmaking gifts are a great way to be more sustainable and will bring huge satisfaction and enjoyment to you whilst you’re making them too. From home-baked treats to salt dough decorations, the possibilities are endless!

Alternatively, think about gifts which keep on giving. Plants are a lovely addition to any home, adding a splash of greenery wherever they are. But make sure you buy one that is easy to maintain – no-one wants a droopy plant shortly after Christmas Day.

We may be biased, but we think Dip & Doze products are the perfect gifts that keep on giving for even the hardest to buy for. Who wouldn’t love the gift of some perfect zzz’s, or robes & towels that feel like being enveloped in a warming embrace. We have a dedicated gift guide bursting with ideas, but if you’re still in need of a little guidance our customer care team are always on hand to help you find the perfect gifts for all your favourite people.

dressing (the home) to impress

One of our favourite Christmas rituals is making our own decorations. From foraging for foliage to drying out slices of orange, we love scattering our homes with wreaths and garlands. Not only does it smell amazing, but it looks beautiful too, bringing Scandi style into our homes and yours. We have a great guide to making your own decorations too.

If crafting is more your thing, paper decorations are a lovely festive addition to any home. Elevate those cut out Christmas stars with a touch of origami and hang them around the home with tweed.

Wishing you the happiest Christmas, and the comfiest, cosiest New Year!
